Boris Kolker, 75, of Mayfield Heights, is a 1993 emigrant from Ufa. The son of a WWII veteran, he studied extensively in the Soviet Union, earning a PhD in linguistics, only to struggle finding work initially in the United States. He is a translator who has also written popular Esperanto textbooks. Part of a series of interviews documenting the unique immigrant experience of Soviet Jews in northeast Ohio and explore issues of professional, family, and religious life.
